After the joys of Thanksgiving when you connect with family and friends, why not take some time to connect with nature? Join your friends at Red-tail Land Conservancy the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 26, and #OptOutside by exploring the beautiful Munsee Woods Nature Preserve from 1-3pm.
Munsee Woods, near Muncie, IN, is usually closed to the public. Like an open house, an “open woods” is a chance for you to wander a typically closed venue. For those who want to #OptOutside, this nature preserve will be open for self-guided exploration from 1pm-3pm.
The natural trails at Munsee Woods are lined with massive oak and hickory trees. On your hike, you will hear wildlife like woodpeckers and hawks, see unusual and intriguing mushrooms, and enjoy the quiet stillness of a natural landscape settling down for winter. We will also have a fire going in the lodge for you to get toasty warm after walking around.
Directions & Parking: Munsee Woods is at 5701 S 475 E Muncie, Indiana 47302. After the gate, drive 1/2 mile down a gravel lane to part in a grass lot.
Responsible Recreation: We suggest you dress for the weather. Please keep responsible recreation in mind. Stay at least 6ft from other trail goers, announce before you pass, pack out all items you bring in, and please stay home if you feel ill. Leashed pets are allowed.
You do not need to register for this event, just show up prepared to be amazed!
